Product Overview

Uncured Intermediate Rubber (Tie Gum) for Conveyor Belt Hot Vulcanizing

Uncured Intermediate Rubber, commonly known as tie gum, is a critical material used in the hot vulcanizing process of conveyor belts. It serves as the bonding layer between new and old rubber components, acting as a chemical and physical adhesive that merges multiple layers of rubber into a single, cohesive structure during vulcanization.

When repairing, splicing, or fabricating rubber conveyor belts - especially in heavy-duty industrial environments such as mining, power generation, and cement production - uncured tie gum plays an irreplaceable role. It ensures the long-term strength, elasticity, and cohesion of the repair or splice, helping the belt regain its mechanical integrity.

Whether applied in conjunction with cover rubber, skim rubber, or fabric layers, uncured intermediate rubber provides the critical bonding strength needed for permanent and reliable repairs. It's an essential hot vulcanizing material for belt splicing experts and repair technicians.

Why Tie Gum Matters

Conveyor belts undergo extreme mechanical stress: tension, abrasion, and temperature variations. In the absence of a proper bonding layer like tie gum, even the most well-executed vulcanizing repair can fail prematurely.
Tie gum ensures:
- Secure adhesion between rubber layers during hot vulcanization
- Reinforced bonding in splices and repair patches
- Compatibility with both fabric and steel cord belt constructions
- Enhanced flexibility and fatigue resistance post-vulcanization

Key Features

5

Recycling and Scrap Management: Supports targeted repairs in belts handling rough materials.

How to Use Tie Gum in Hot Vulcanizing

1. Prepare the surface: Clean, buff, and roughen the damaged area or splice zone.
2. Apply cement (if required): Use bonding cement compatible with tie gum and base rubber.
3. Layer the tie gum: Cut to size and place over the carcass or seam.
4. Overlay with cover rubber: Place uncured cover rubber on top.
5. Vulcanize: Use a hot vulcanizing press at 145–165°C for 20–30 minutes.
6. Cool and inspect: Let the joint cool under pressure, then inspect.
