Custom Ceramic Lagged Drive Pulley Shipped to Senegal

A custom conveyor drive pulley with 15 mm ceramic lagging, supplied for an existing conveyor installation.

YIQI Conveyor recently arranged the shipment of a custom ceramic lagged drive pulley for a customer in Senegal. The pulley was supplied to meet the requirements of the customer's existing conveyor equipment.

This order involved one drive pulley with a 630 mm steel drum diameter, a 1150 mm face length, and 15 mm ceramic lagging. The finished outside diameter is 660 mm.

While the drum specifications were straightforward, the shaft arrangement required particular attention. During technical discussions, we asked the customer to carefully check the manufacturing drawing, especially the dimensions affecting installation and connection to the speed reducer.

Custom Drive Pulley Specifications

The ceramic lagging was specified for the drive pulley surface. Compared with a plain steel drum, ceramic lagging can provide improved grip and wear resistance under suitable operating conditions. The lagging type and thickness were selected according to the customer's requirements.

Why Shaft Dimensions Were a Key Part of This Order

For a replacement drive pulley, matching the drum diameter and face length is only part of the job. The shaft must also fit the customer's existing bearing supports and drive system.

In this Senegal order, the customer initially provided several standard shaft dimensions. However, we still needed the customer to review the detailed drawing rather than relying on those standard sizes alone.

The most important point was the left-side shaft extension, which connects to the speed reducer. Its length must be compatible with the existing connection arrangement.

We also highlighted the overall shaft length, stepped shaft diameters, bearing mounting positions, and keyway dimensions. These details determine whether the pulley can be installed correctly without additional machining or modification.

We therefore explained the critical dimensions to the customer and requested careful drawing approval before manufacturing. This is particularly important for international orders, where correcting a dimensional mismatch after delivery can take considerable time and expense.

Export Shipment to Senegal

Following the technical coordination and production process, the custom drive pulley was prepared for shipment to Senegal. As a heavy mechanical component, the pulley requires suitable handling and packing, with particular attention to protecting its ceramic lagging and exposed shaft ends.

Although this was a single-unit order, the technical details were no less important than those of a larger shipment. For the customer, receiving a pulley that matches the existing installation is more valuable than simply receiving a component with the correct nominal drum size.
